International cooperation: SKLURE is active in international scientific exchanges and cooperation and has participated in many international research plans. (1) Cooperation on institute level: SKLURE built up a union laboratory on urban ecological system with Arizona State University and a long-term research cooperation plan on ecosystem services evaluation with Stanford University. (2) Cooperation on project level: Cooperation with scientists from the United States, Germany, England, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and so on, international research projects supported by European Union Funds, the US National Science Foundation, WWF，GEF and so on were applied and conducted. (3) Academic exchange: many graduate students of SKLURE were sent abroad to study and training, and graduate students from USA, the Netherlands, and Belgium visited SKLURE as guest student for their thesis work. Meanwhile, Undergraduates from the Ecoles Normales Supérieures, Hong Kong Baptist University, Stanford University, and Columbia University visited SKLURE for summer student exchange.

Domestic cooperation: In order to develop the main research orientations of SKLURE, the research force both in CAS and other universities has been employed for developing SENCE ecology. In recent years, SKLURE, along with other institutes, has undertaken many projects, supported by Ministry of Science and Technology of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, local governments, and others.

Academic activities: SKLURE, as the host, has organized eight international academic conferences and workshops, and three international training courses in last five years. SKLURE staffs were invited 106 times in total to give a key presentation on important conferences. At the same time, domestic and overseas experts are often invited to give presentations for academic exchange.
